Has your computer ever crashed. What I mean by crash is " your computer has been suddenly shut down without any message or computer hangs on a regular basis or a blue screen comes on your desktop. "

You don't know what is causing the problem but we might have the perfect answer for you. Below are 10 reasons why your PC crashes and what you can do about it :

1. Hardware Conflict

Each hardware device communicates with other devices through IRQ (interrupt request channel). They are uniquely distributed to each hardware device for smooth working. But sometimes if the device is not properly installed it may share IRQ with other device and when you use both the devices with same IRQ at the same time the computer crashes.

To solve this problem you can do open the device manager and check which device is causing this problem. Device manager show a yellow triangle on the troubled device or you can check IRQ of devices by clicking on properties.

Re-installing the device or changing its slot on motherboard. If you have never opened your CPU's cabinet before I will advice you to call a professional. If computer is in warranty call the company don't open it yourself.

2.Bad RAM

If the problem is in your RAM a blue screen will appear saying Fatal Exception Error. This means a part is damaged and it needs to be changed or there is a serious problem with the hardware or it can be caused by the mismatch of chip. Mismatch means mixing of RAM of different type.If one is slower than other the computer will run on slower speed. This may result in crash of PC frequently as the RAM will be overworked.

For the first two conditions you will need to call a expert but for the third condition you can try to increase the wait state of the RAM in the BIOS setting. To go to the BIOS setting to your computer refer to my article .

3. BIOS Error

A common BIOS error is misconfiguration of CAS latency. To know about about CAS latency click here . Newer SD RAM has the latency of 2. Setting the wrong figure can result in lock up of your display.

To correct this error you will need to go to BIOS setting. I can't give a tutorial as different PCs have different motherboard and this result in different type of menu. But I think this video may help you.
This video is not created by me I found it on YouTube. I liked it so I am sharing this with you. Hope this may help you.

4. Hard Disk Error

As you know after sometime the data stored on your hard disk becomes fragmented and this can result in the freezing of your screen. Hard disk may also slow down if it is too full.

To prevent that from happening De-fragment your disk on a regular basis. You can use in-built De-fragmenter in your windows.

For the second condition you should just free up some space you should remove extra content on your PC and use Disk Clean Up or other such software to get yourself some extra space.

5. Fatal OE Exception and VXD Errors

This error is often caused by the video card problem. If your screen freezes it ay be cause of hardware conflict. To know more about hardware conflict refer to first point in this article.

For the first condition just lower down the screen resolution and see if it help otherwise contact a professional. For the second condition just follow the steps in the first point.

6. Power Supply

You know that power is not permanently available in many countries and the power can also get dim or spike up suddenly this may also cause a crash.

A good way is to get a UPS for your computer.

7. Viruses

Virus is the biggest cause of computer crash. Beware of such viruses to protect yourself from dangerous viruses. They can do anything from opening continuously a window to deleting your computers base files.

To stay secured from viruses install  a good antivirus. I personally use Norton. Please update your antivirus on a regular basis. Buy a genuine product don't use pirated copies. Don't compromise with security.

8.  Printers

You may be surprised that how can a printer cause a problem but it can. When you print a document the printer makes a large size copy of it in its memory but printer has a small memory called buffer. This memory can easily be filled. So the result the PC hangs.

Printer also uses a lot of CPU power this may slow down your PC. If you are multitasking while printing stop it as the computer will hang in minutes as it will have not memory for the processes that needed to be carried out for your computer to work.

If the printer is trying to print any unusual characters. These characters may not be recognized by the printer and can result in crash.

To solve this problem shut down your printer for 10 or more seconds and start it again. This will clear up the buffer in the printer's memory and the setting of the printer will be restored to default again and you can carry out your work. The printer problem is solved in the new printers.

9. Software

A software not installed properly can also cause a lot of trouble to your computer. So think after installing which software your computer started to get troubled.

A good way is to recognize the software and uninstall it. Also remove its registry file with software like Advance System Care. If you don't know which software caused the problem use system restore. It will get you back to the state when you didn't even installed that software.

10. Overheating

Your CPU has a fan which cools down the CPU when it is doing its processes. If your fan has become old and it can't cool down the system or it is not even moving. Your PC will be overheated and it will shut down the computer.

For this change the fan immediately don't try to use your computer with no fan working you will end up damaging your processor. Call the company you brought the computer from your get in contact with expert for the help.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I have been looking to get a desktop PC and I will keep these in mind if mine ever stops working. I was told to get a good computer cabinet, and now I'm going to make sure that I do.
